I have been a member at FoF since June 2003. I joined a couple of months before my 40th birthday when it occurred to me that I actually was going to be ‘fat and forty’ and decided to (finally) do something about it! When I joined the goals I discussed with Ric were to get exercise into my life on a regular basis, improve my flexibility and lose weight – and with huge support from everyone at the gym I have achieved all three in shedloads! However, I still have lots to achieve, and becoming a gym assistant is part of my ongoing commitment to ‘getting exercise into my life on a regular basis’. When, like me, you sit all day to do your work, having a time for exercise is absolutely vital – not just for my physical health, but for my mind as well. Poor trainers – I don’t dare to remember the times I have stomped into the gym fed up with work and clients, and stepped out an hour later feeling lighter, happier and re-energised! So, since I became a member I have become more flexible, exercise is part of my weekly routine and I have lost weight. I have also made some great friends, have enjoyed more support and encouragement than I have ever experienced before and been inspired to be an active member of that team – what goes around, comes around. My latest exercise goals include getting stronger, getting round the Malmesbury town street light circuit in under 30 minutes (distance is approx 2.5 miles – all welcome to join me puffing round!) and getting my weight down another 10 kilos. I have every confidence I’ll achieve these targets because FoF, the trainers and my fellow members will make sure I do!
