Happy New Year

Dear Club Member,
Firstly I would like to say Happy New Year to all our members old and new. I hope you have had a fantastic time over the festive period and a good well-earned rest as well. Around this time of year most of you will be considering your New Year’s resolutions and wondering how, this year (unlike every other year), you can keep them going beyond the end of January!

The Wellbeing Team would like to help you with this problem and also keep you informed of any offers and events taking place so here are a few things to look out for:

Personal Training
To help you make better use of your workout time and help you achieve the goals you all desire. Andy, Nick and Tilly are on hand to help you achieve even more this year.

Massage therapy
To relieve the aches and pains caused by Christmas goings on, also as a method of preventing muscle overuse injury throughout the year; we are here to help. We hope you like the recently decorated massage therapy and fitness review room!

Classes
We offer a varied selection of exercise classes from Pilates to circuits. If you haven’t already tried a class make this year the year you try one!

Reassessments
Please book your health and fitness review with us to reassess your goals and keep your exercise programme up to date, this is vital if you want to be successful with your fitness this year.  This service is inclusive of your membership and only takes 45 minutes so please use it; the team is ready to help!

Nutritional Advice
Our nutritional advice and guidance can help you achieve your goal, whether it is energy gains, weight loss or strength increases. We can advise you on the correct methods of success.

New Year - New Director

I would like to take this opportunity to wish Andy all the best for the coming year.  My role will be shareholder, director and mentor to Andy.  I will be around from time to time, but from here on in, Andy will take charge of all issues.
My focus will be to develop my other business, Appoint P3 Training & Consultancy. www.appointp3.co.uk

End of year review

Pictures of the successful end of year review are on display on the reception notice board.  Thank you to all that attended the evening. Once again it was fantastic to see so many supporters of the club.  The review summarises the year and finishes with the coveted Member of the Year awards.  The winners for 2007 are as follows, and let’s make 2008 even more successful!

1st - Emma Edwards      For losing 2 stone in weight, changing shape and keeping that shape and walking one of the toughest walks in the world: 62 miles in 27 hours as part of the Focus on Fitness trail walker team raising monies for Oxfam.

2nd- Rachel Tanner   For completing 390km on a pushbike traveling across India and raising monies for the charity Women for Women.

3rd Kevin Bartlett          For completing 42km (that’s a marathon to you and me!) on the rowing machine.  Well done to all!

Focus on Fitness Super Session

As some of you may remember last year we held three, four-hour super session fitness events originally designed as a fundraiser. However, it soon became clear that the sessions were being used almost like a fitness marker and massive motivator to encourage future gym success.  Because of the great success of the sessions we are going to hold a super session every 3 months. The session will comprise not only studio and aerobic-based work, but we will now introduce outside jogging, boxercise elements and core work amongst other styles of exercise.  The class will vary from month to month giving you a taster of all elements of fitness. The class dates and times are as follows, and we will update you closer to each date of the class with details of each event.

January  Saturday 26th 08.30am - 12.30pm  (book your place today!)
April        Saturday 26th 08.30am - 12.30pm
July         Saturday 26th 08.30am - 12.30pm
October   Saturday 25th 08.30am - 12.30pm

The price for each event will be £20 per member and £30 per non-member.

A note from Paul
As many of you are already aware, in July of 2007 I branched out from Focus on Fitness and started my own business offering similar services to that on offer to you at Focus on Fitness today.  The majority of my work is now based in Bath and Bristol however I still have a close link with Focus on Fitness as I believe it is a unique and special club to be a member of.  You will see me at the club personal training and running the Chi Yoga and seniors class, so remaining an extended part of the team supporting Andy in his new position when called upon.  However, if you have friends, family or loved ones in the Bath, Bristol and surrounding areas that cast outside the Focus on Fitness net please feel free to pass on my contact website - www.pdfitness.co.uk - for them to get in contact with me.  I wish you all the very best for 2008. Thanks for reading.  Paul.
